When it comes to your pets, every moment matters, and we’re here for you in those urgent times. Our team at Ridgeview Animal Hospital offers quality urgent and emergency care for serious health problems, injuries, and illness during business hours.  

Please call us at 402-333-3366 to schedule a same-day appointment. While we understand you may not always be able to call in advance, if you can, it will help our staff be prepared for your pet’s arrival.

For sudden or unexpected issues outside our normal business hours you can find compassionate and timely care through OVG Urgent Care, conveniently located at Ridgeview Animal Hospital. Omaha Vets Group (OVG) is our network of Metro area hospitals that share resources to provide your pet with access to the best patient care.

Urgent & Emergency Care Services

Our trained staff can treat urgent and emergency cases. If your pet is experiencing any of the following symptoms, please seek attention immediately:

Trouble Breathing:

  • Fast breathing without panting
  • Loud or exaggerated breathing
  • Abdominal heaving with every breath
  • Neck extended to breathe
  • Cats only: open-mouthed breathing

Weakness or Mobility Issues

  • Collapsing
  • Sudden profound weakness or inability to walk
  • Staggering, limping, unsteady on feet
  • Shaking, seizures or tremors
  • Disoriented

Vomiting, Diarrhea, or Inability to Urinate

  • Straining to defecate or urinate (especially in male cats)
  • Diarrhea – pure liquid, blood or black accompanied by loss of appetite, decreased energy or vomiting
  • Vomiting accompanied by loss of appetite, decreased energy, or diarrhea
  • No urination in 24+ hours


  • Hit by a car
  • Falling from high surface
  • Bite Wounds
  • Ongoing bleeding

Severe Allergic Reaction or Symptoms

  • Facial swelling or hives
  • White or blue gums with weakness
  • Sudden bruises
  • Excruciating pain
  • Eyes are bulging, squinting or sudden loss of sight

  • Coughing
  • Allergies, such as sneezing, runny nose, itchy skin or ears, thickness/fluid in ear
  • Loss of Appetite
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Limping
